Making a difference to the environment

Lyne Burn Regeneration Project

During 2021 we have been working with the Fife Council Ranger Service to support the regeneration project on the Lyne Burn in Dunfermline.   We carried out a litter pick in one of the areas being regenerated in June.

Planting Trees

At the end of June we planted 5 native trees as part of our celebrations for the centenary of Soroptimist International.  These trees have been cared for by members to make sure they become well established.

Another Litter Pick

On the 29th of September members carried out another litter pick as part of our support for this project.  We collected lots of litter and used it to spell out 100 and No Litter to highlight the centenary of Soroptimist International.

Plastic Free Dunfermline

Club Presidents Abbie and Sandra signed the Plastic Free Pledge on behalf of the club.

The club have committed to help create a plastic free Dunfermline by signing the Plastic Free Pledge and working individually to reduce our use of plastic.  For more information visit http://www.plasticefreedunfermline.org.uk

Some of our ideas for reducing and reusing palstic.  The net bags for fruit and vegetables were made by the sewing bee and sold to members.

Planters at Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline.

In October 2020 we were given four planters to fill and look after at Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline.  Lots of plants and bulbs were planted.

Plaques were added to the planters to show they are being looked after by Dunfermline Soroptimists.

In March 2021 Helen and her husband cleaned and weeded the planters.  The daffodils are in full bloom and looking cheerful.
