President for 2025-26<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

President’s Remarks<\/h2>\n

I am excited and I am looking forward to being president of SI Dunfermline this year, our 75th<\/sup> year as a club.<\/p>\n

This is my second time being president. I was president in 2002-2003. That seems a very long time ago but, in many ways, it seems very recent. I certainly have a lot more experience of Soroptimism now.<\/p>\n

I am proud to be a member of a SI club that remains very active, with an emphasis on Programme Action. We work well as a club, encouraging and supporting each other to be \u201cthe best of sisters\u201d Long may that continue.<\/p>\n

We obviously have a weekend of exciting events around the 75th<\/sup> Anniversary of the Charter dinner from 9th<\/sup> -11th<\/sup> May 2025. We are also hoping to plant a tree in the glen in the Autumn to celebrate our 75th<\/sup> Anniversary.<\/p>\n

The club abandoned the President\u2019s chosen charity about 10 years ago. When we fund raise, we raise money for various charities chosen by the club. The first time I was president my charity was HCPT, The Pilgrimage Trust. I used to travel with group 88 and was the Scottish Regional Doctor until my retirement last year.\u00a0 The charity takes disabled and disadvantaged children for a week\u2019s holiday to Lourdes in France. It was there that I learned how difficult it was to change a severely disabled child in an inadequate toilet. I therefore very much enjoyed last years talk about Changing Places. I would therefore ask that at next years disbursements the club consider a donation to this worthy charity.<\/p>\n

My themes for the coming years programme are Promoting Healthy Living and Women\u2019s safety. Hopefully we can work out a programme that incorporates these themes. Thank you for your ongoing support.<\/p>\n
