Celebrating 75 years<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n

In 2025 we celebrated 75 years of service by Soroptimists in Dunfermline.\u00a0 Our weekend started with an informal supper at Estelle’s where we met up with Bo from our friendship link club in Bielsko Biala in Poland.\u00a0 Saturday morning saw a guided tour of Dunimarle Castle. On Saturday evening we were joined by many guests for a final dinner at the Carnegie Conference Centre where we have met for over 25 years. We were wonderfully entertained by Rosyth Military Wives Choir.\u00a0 Sunday morning finished off the celebration with a walking tour of Dunfermline and the Abbey.<\/p>\n

Celebrating 70 years<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

Soroptimists in Dunfermline celebrated 70 years of service in 2020.\u00a0 Our club was chartered in 1950. It is a daughter club of SI Edinburgh and mother club to SI Kirkcaldy.\u00a0 Celebrations were planned for 2020 but had to be postponed.\u00a0 However our work continued and we are looking forward to the future.<\/p>\n

Stitches for Survival<\/h3>\n

Two members of the club made panels as part of the Stitches for Survival Project for COP26.\u00a0 Panels could be knitted, crocheted or stitched and had to be 100cms by 60 cms.\u00a0 These panels were sewn together and hung at Glasgow Green on the 6th of November during the COP 26 event.\u00a0 The aim was to make a scarf measuring 1,5 miles to represent 1.5 degrees to highlight the target temperature change.\u00a0 1500 panels were made across the UK and we were delighted to be part of this craftivism raising awareness of climate change.<\/p>\n

Celebrating the centenary of Soroptimist International.<\/h2>\n

To celebrate 100 years of Soroptimist International a set of playing cards have been produced.\u00a0 These feature Soroptimists from across Scotland.\u00a0 The club are really pleased that 6 members of our club are featured in the pack.\u00a0 You can order a set by visiting the website for Scotland South http:\/\/www.sigbi.org\/scotland-south<\/a><\/p>\n

Lighting Candles to celebrate 100 years of service.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the 23rd of September 2021 members joined together to light candles to celebrate the centenary of our organisation.\u00a0 Four candles were lit to represent the club, Scotland South Region, Our Federation SIGBI and Soroptimist International.<\/p>\n
