INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY IN EASTBOURNE 2018

Thursday 8 March was International Women’s Day, and the Eastbourne Soroptimists held a day conference to mark the occasion in the magnificent Assembly Room in Eastbourne Town Hall, under the auspices of Cllr Pat Hearn, the Mayor of Eastbourne.

We had a wonderful range of speakers (all women!) addressing a variety of subjects: women in leadership, women in public office, the role of women in suicide prevention, keeping the focus of girls’ learning, human trafficking, and the hidden women of Eastbourne.

A lot of work went into organising the Conference, and we were delighted by the turn-out from other women’s organisations in Eastbourne, representatives of charities, other Soroptimists in Sussex and of course most of the Eastbourne Club members.

We are very grateful for the sponsorship received and for the support from people and organisations in Eastbourne, not to mention the Mayor herself and her ever-helpful staff.
