WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Welcome to the Eastbourne Soroptimists.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re a group of women from a variety of careers and backgrounds who combine friendship with carrying out projects, fund-raising and lobbying aimed at improving the lives of women and girls.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like our parent organisation<\/strong> (Soroptimist International<\/a>), our aim is to help women and girls locally and worldwide to achieve their potential and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities. We aim to help transform the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities. There are almost 66,000 Soroptimists worldwide committed to improving the lives of women and girls, and we\u2019re part of the group of Soroptimist Clubs in South East England<\/a>.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of a large international organisation, we have developed special links with sister clubs in Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Turkey and the UK, as well as supporting international projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Eastbourne Soroptimists meet in a seafront hotel twice a month on Monday evenings, usually alternating listening to a speaker, with discussing Club business, projects and other activities. <\/strong>We put a strong emphasis on friendship and mutual support for our Club members, and often meet up on a more social basis, for outings, meals and outdoor activities, often to raise money for one of <\/strong>the projects we support<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition we have a Book Club, a Writers\u2019 Group, an Art Group and a Craft Group. Take a look at the <\/strong>Club Diary<\/strong><\/a> page to find out more about our activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many of our members have moved to the Eastbourne area from elsewhere and have found membership of the local Soroptimists a good way of making friends and trying new activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some of us meet up for coffee on the first Monday of the month at the<\/em> Hydro Hotel (<\/em><\/strong>Mount Road, Eastbourne, BN20 7HZ), usually in the conservatory. You are very welcome to come and join us.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
