So what exactly is Soroptimist International?\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Soroptimist International is the world\u2019s largest women\u2019s service organisation with Consultative Status at the United Nations. For a more detailed description of our organisation\u00a0 visit the main website at http:\/\/www.soroptimistinternational.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n

We start by working locally: the Edinburgh club was founded in 1927. It is one of the oldest in Scotland giving many years of service, locally to our community – working with, amongst others, Edinburgh Women\u2019s Refuge, LinkNet and Kids Love Clothes.\u00a0 We lobby on behalf of, and undertake local projects that benefit, women and girls.<\/p>\n

We work regionally in cooperation with\u00a0 other Soroptimist clubs across southern Scotland and nationally across the whole of Scotland.\u00a0 To find out more about Soroptimists in the south of Scotland click here http:\/\/soroptimist-gbi.org\/scotland-south\/<\/a><\/p>\n

We also work within a United Kingdom framework on behalf of women and girls. The focus project work across the UK is raising awareness on Violence Against Women and in particular the UN worldwide campaign “Orange the World”.<\/p>\n

We work internationally, supporting the lobbying and advocacy work at the United Nations on behalf of women and girls as well as fundraising for specific projects which support women and girls.<\/p>\n

Usually SI Edinburgh meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 7.30. Our meeting is at Words and Action 4 Peace, 58 Ratcliffe Terrace, EH9 1ST<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 You can be sure of a warm welcome.\u00a0 We meet in person and also on Zoom. Most meetings are hybrid.<\/p>\n
