SI Ellesmere Port and District joined with SI Birkenhead and SI Heswall on Saturday 10th March 2018 to walk along the parade in Parkgate on the Wirral in recognition of International Women’s Day which was 8th March 2018.
Signatures were gathered from members of the public along the way to support the Purple Teardrop campaign ‘Stop the Trafficking – Stop the Tears’. This petition calls on the Government to introduce legislation which will make it illegal for ‘Sex for Sale’ advertisements to appear in any media.
Despite the blustery weather, a pleasing number of members turned out with banners, sashes, rosettes and badges proudly worn in support of the campaign. After the walk, members of the groups had coffee in a small restaurant, and the Ellesmere Port members then enjoyed lunch at the Boathouse Inn in Parkgate.
