{"id":5175,"date":"2020-12-21T15:37:56","date_gmt":"2020-12-21T14:37:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/epsom-and-district\/?p=5175"},"modified":"2021-01-09T20:23:02","modified_gmt":"2021-01-09T19:23:02","slug":"shh-secret-santa-christmas-gifts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/epsom-and-district\/2020\/12\/21\/shh-secret-santa-christmas-gifts\/","title":{"rendered":"Shh&#8230;..Secret Santa &amp; Christmas Gifts!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/images.unsplash.com\/photo-1482517716521-3120e5340ed3?ixid=MXwxMjA3fDB8MHxzZWFyY2h8MXx8bWVycnklMjBjaHJpc3RtYXN8ZW58MHx8MHw%3D&amp;ixlib=rb-1.2.1&amp;w=1000&amp;q=80\" alt=\"red Christmas bell on Christmas tree\" width=\"148\" height=\"222\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our soroptimists have been very generous this year in donating funds to the 3 domestic abuse charities we support: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esdas.org.uk\/\">East Surrey Domestic Abuse Services (ESDAS)<\/a> \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rbwa.org.uk\/\">Reigate and Banstead Women&#8217;s Aid (RBWA)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.truehonour.org.uk\/\">True Honour <\/a>. Some members expressed the view that it is also important for the families to receive gifts,\u00a0 especially at this time of year when they are often far away from the normality of family life.<\/p>\n<p>One very new Soroptimist member, Tina, (possibly one of Santa&#8217;s elves in disguise!) decided that instead of giving the usual presents to work colleagues, she would organise a Secret Santa for ESDAS. Not only did she involved these colleagues\u00a0 but she also asked if any Soroptimists would like to donate presents and they did! Tina was able to collect a sizeable amount and they were collected by ESDAS.\u00a0 The items included books,\u00a0 socks, infusers, mugs,\u00a0 scarves and chocolate\u00a0 plus many more items.<\/p>\n<p>RBWA\u00a0 placed a request\u00a0 on Facebook that they were in great need of presents for their families.
