The evening began with a recorded speech from Liz Batten, Past President of Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI). Liz spoke about one of our members, Hilary Page MBE, who has been a Soroptimist for 50 years, since 1972. Hilary has received a certificate from SIGBI to mark the occasion. Last year,\u00a0 Hilary was presented with a certificate by SIGBI for her achievement in her work and being a Soroptimist.\u00a0 She was amongst over 100 women nominated in the Soroptimist Centenary year. You can read about Hilary&#8217;s achievements on this link: <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/epsom-and-district\/whoisshe-hilary-page-mbe\/\">#WhoIsShe? &#8211; Hilary Page MBE <\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Sally Curtis gave an introduction to International Women&#8217;s Day, focusing on the women and children of\u00a0 Lviv and the support we are sending over to them. Information about this can be found in a previous post on this website: The theme for this year&#8217;s International Women&#8217;s Day is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalwomensday.com\/theme\">#BreakTheBias<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">We were fortunate to have Julie Blackwell, President of Soroptimist International Southern England (SISE), to speak about her time as a Soroptimist in different clubs and roles. She then inducted three new members: Cathy Ward, Suzy Cooper and Pam Cooper. All three gave a brief introduction to themselves and were then presented online with members&#8217; pack and badges.
