A mouth-watering array of food included cakes large and small, scones, sandwiches, sausage rolls and onion bhajis! This was all polished off with tea served in fine China cups. The event was held at our member, Pat&#8217;s house and garden. It also happened to coincide with Pat&#8217;s 80th birthday the previous week. We presented Pat with a beautiful handmade card and a Soroptimist Rose.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">SI Epsom and District Club is committed to educating, empowering and enabling women in the UK and worldwide. We have been involved with African Vision Malawi (AVM) since 2016 as proud <\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">sponsors of a young woman named Grace Harrison. She is from the M\u2019bang\u2019ombe village in the Lilongwe district of Malawi and was 19 in July 2022. Having raised awareness of Grace through initiatives such as inviting AVM to speak to a garden full of members and friends, it was possible to sponsor Grace through her education at Namitete Secondary school. A total of \u00a31,100 was put towards 4 years of schooling. Grace kept in touch with letters and photos telling us about her progress in school. Last year, the Club sent her \u00a380 to buy a travel case and smart phone which she <\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">has received and sent us photos of the items. Grace was intending to go to university and would have completed her first year by now.
