[vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=”6″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1585902982903-fe6e6938-25b5-6″ include=”198,197″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Members of SI Folkestone took part in knitting or crocheting (depending on where their skills lay) poppies to decorate the Road Of Remembrance to commemorate WW1. \u00a0 \u00a0Over 3,000 knitted and crocheted poppies lined the Road Of Remembrance in Folkestone, which was the route followed by millions of soldiers who passed through Folkestone’s streets on the way to war.<\/p>\n

This is the knitting pattern that was used to create the poppies:<\/p>\n

Joining cast-off edges, sew petals together in pairs then place one pair over the other<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
in a cross formation and secure.\u00a0 Coil green centre into a tight spiral and sew in the centre of the petals.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
Using ‘C’ (Black) work a ring of straight stitches around the green centre and then work French Knots around them.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
Maintain the petals in a cup shape with small stitch behind pairs of petals.<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
(KFB is Knit Front and Back)<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
(SSK is Slip Slip then knit through the loops)<\/span><\/em><\/address>\n
