Nominations are invited to find that inspirational woman who lives, work or was born in the area covered by Folkestone and Hythe District Council. A woman could be nominated for her contribution to the community, for improving the role of women, for showing personal courage or for outstanding professional achievement. There must be thousands of women within Folkestone and Hythe who achieve this but their contribution to our community goes unrecognised \u2013 someone who seems to go the extra mile, does something selfless or difficult and who makes you proud to say \u201cI am so glad to have known her \u2013 she has made a real difference\u201d<\/p>\n

The prize of a donation to the charity of the winner\u2019s choice will be made at an afternoon tea to be held on International Women\u2019s Day \u2013 8 March 2020 \u2013 at the Saga Pavilion. \u2013 so please save the date. Melanie Duke, Group Change Director at Saga said \u201cWe are pleased to be able to host this event which recognises and celebrates the contribution women make to our community, making the world a better place for the most vulnerable in our society\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rosemary Braid, President of Soroptimist International of Folkestone said \u201cwe are delighted that nominations to find the Folkestone and Hythe\u2019s Woman of the Year for 2020 is now open. As an organisation we encourage girls to achieve their individual and collective potential and to have an equal voice to create strong and peaceful communities\u201d.<\/p>\n
