Saturday 23rd July dawned a perfect day for a party in Enid’s delightful garden in Peterston-super-Ely.
SI Glamorgan Gwent Marshes got ready to welcome guests to a garden party to raise funds for the SIGBI Federation quadrennial project – the Meru Women’s Garden.
Then setting up the garden . . . all hands on deck!
And of course the raffle . . .
and the garden themed stall . . .
Then at last came the guests – SI GGM President Ann welcomed Regional President Bobby
and Soroptimists, friends and families gathered to enjoy a welcoming Pimms before sitting down to their delicious afternoon tea.
Thanks to all who supported us in many different ways – at the end of a lovely day we had raised over £1000 for the Meru Women’s Garden Project.
Meru Women’s Garden Project is a collaboration between Child.org, Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland and the women of Meru. The project aims to create sustainable gardening techniques and tools for enabling women to become mentors and pioneers of agricultural sustainability within the community. We also educate girls on their rights, empowering them to stand up to damaging cultural practices like FGM.
By providing economic opportunities to women and girls, MWGP will achieve long term change by strengthening entire communities; improving the lives and opportunities for children and generations to come.
