Mama Mia ……… The BIG Project
MAMMA MIA FILM and SINGALONG EVENING – My, my……….WHAT A SUCCESS
£1027 RAISED FOR THE BIG PROJECT
On July 23rd 2013 with thunderstorms, heat and humidity the Victoria Hall was filled with people eager for a fun evening of singing along with the Mamma Mia film and songs. Members of SI Grange Health group were helped by club members serving refreshments and raffle tickets. We were delighted Ruth Bruce Regional PA officer could join us and Members of SI Barrow and Windermere turned out in force to support the event, some of whom are pictured with Grange members.
There were prizes for the best costumes and although not many dressed up everyone joined in with the singing and some danced at the end. It was a very successful evening raising a grand total of £1027 which included £62 in Gift Aid on generous donations.
The money is going to the BIG project which is a Soroptimist project in conjunction with MCAI ( Maternal Childhealth Advocacy International) who in addition to providing refurbishment of maternity hospitals most importantly provide training for hospital and Community Midwives and Traditional Birth Attendants many of whom are illiterate. The latter are usually the ones on hand when there are problems in pregnancy, labour or after birth, so their training is vital.
