Grange Soroptimists are committed to\u00a0 making the Sensory Garden in Park Road Gardens , Grange – over – Sands a delightful place\u00a0 for everyone to enjoy.<\/h1>\n

Recent activitis in the garden include a covered seating area\u00a0 made and installed by\u00a0 Grange Men’s Shed (https:\/\/www.grange-mens-shed.co.uk\/)<\/em><\/span> members. This proved very useful for the public on rainy days and\u00a0 for our entry for the Greening Cartmel Peninsula scarecrow competition. Members contine to maintain and\u00a0 develop the garden and an information board and leaflets will soon be\u00a0 installed. The garden has been particularly helpful during lockdowns giving locals\u00a0 a place to relax and enjoy nature.<\/p>\n

In 2018 and 2019\u00a0 the garden was transformed by\u00a0 new planting, new paths and edging with Soroptimists working\u00a0 very hard, laying cobbles on the edges of\u00a0 entrance path.\u00a0\u00a0 the Club is very grateful for generous grants from Walney Extension Community Fund, The Hadfield Trust, Grange Town Council, SLDC and an anonymous donor which has enabled all this work.\u00a0 This will greatly improve access for the public particularly wheelchair and pushchair users. The garden was\u00a0 also used during the latest Pumpkin walks.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In 2017 members worked very hard\u00a0 to\u00a0 clear some space and replant. Soroptimist Alison made a marvellous “Buggingham Palace” bug hotel to provide shelter for insects over the winter. The local Guides\u00a0 also made two bug hotels for the garden and these were installed in the garden to encourage insects and wildlife in 2016. The guides also supplied and help plant an apple tree in May 2017.<\/p>\n
