The Club supports Barrow Women’s Centre<\/a> with donations of clothes, toiletries, sanitary items, equipment and bedding and 2 members assist in running the clothes room.\u00a0 The Women’s Centre provides support to women who have suffered domestic violence and assists any women\u00a0 including those involved with the criminal justice system and teenagers needing support.<\/h1>\n

During the pandemic members have been involved with food preparation<\/a> for families struggling with\u00a0 poverty and provision of toiletries etc<\/a> for women fleeing domestic abuse which dramatically increased during the pandemic. The baking\u00a0 of desserts and traybakes\u00a0 while the children were off\u00a0 school between April and September was a big undertaking with\u00a0 a total of over 4,000 portions baked and delivered to the Women’s Centre for distribution\u00a0 along with main courses supplied by the Centre.<\/h3>\n

The Club supports\u00a0 Springfield<\/a> the\u00a0 women’s refuge in Kendal\u00a0 with regular fundraising<\/a> to provide bedding and other household items.<\/h1>\n

Club members lobby for improved services for victims of domestic abuse and were active when the Domestic Abuse Bill was going through Parliament lobbying re inclusion of non fatal strangulation<\/a> to be included in the Bill.\u00a0 We also\u00a0 do awareness raising such as the White ribbon campaign<\/h1>\n
