Members\u00a0 were keen to see each other again and\u00a0 enjoyed\u00a0 meeting in groups of 6 outside at Holker on 5 August , and somehow dodged the rain showers. The afternoon flew by with plenty of chatter and tea .<\/h3>\n

The following week 12 members walked in 2 groups from Cartmel to Holker and back, coping with heat and humidity and enjoying seeing each other again.<\/h3>\n

On 12th August Sheila hosted the first of her pop up\u00a0 fundraising afternoon teas in aid of the Barrow Women’s Centre<\/a> , particularly Period Poverty<\/a> and in perfect weather 6 members and Wilma the dog\u00a0 enjoyed\u00a0 a relaxing afternoon and delicious scones and cake.<\/h3>\n

At all these events there was lots of socialising but also a chance to discuss projects and exchange ideas.<\/h3>\n

SOME FACTS ABOUT PERIOD POVERTY<\/h3>\n

1 in 10 girls can’t afford to buy menstrual products according to Plan International UK.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Over 137,000 \u00a0children the UK have missed school because of period poverty.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Menstrual products cost more than \u00a318,000 \u00a0in a women\u2019s life (\u00a313 every month).<\/strong><\/h3>\n
