Ewen Cameron piped in the haggis and then recited the Address to a Haggis.\u00a0 Everyone then\u00a0 tucked into\u00a0 haggis, neeps and tatties with a wee dram of whisky followed by delicious cranachan.<\/p>\n<p>We were delighted that\u00a0 lots of locals attended to make the evening such a success.<\/p>\n<p>After supper were the traditional speeches with The Immortal Memory by Mike Gibbons, who talked about the lyricism of Burns poetry and also included Mozart who was born\u00a0 around the same time as Burns. Paul Harraway\u00a0 then\u00a0 proposed The Toast to the Lassies and Mary Ann Harris replied with good hearted banter..<\/p>\n<p>The evening rounded off rolling pounds\u00a0 to win a bottle of whisky , and then\u00a0 singing some traditional Scottish\u00a0 songs, ending of course with Auld Lang Syne! The Rev Penny Driver\u00a0 gave The Vote of thanks\u00a0 and\u00a0 thanked\u00a0 everyone who had contributed to the evening with a special thank you to the cooks!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a3640 was raised\u00a0 for charities supported by our club. \u00a3590 was sent to <a href=\"https:\/\/shelterbox.org\/\">ShelterBox<\/a>\u00a0 which provides\u00a0 disaster relief\u00a0 throughout the world\u00a0 and other beneficiaries\u00a0 will include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenscommunitymatters.org\/contact\/\">Barrow Women&#8217;s Centre.<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Anyone interested in finding out more about our club or keen to join please <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/contact-us\/\">CONTACT US<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1706704570434-b15b12d3-b2db-1&#8243; include=&#8221;6439,6427,6428,6436,6438,6434,6435,6430,6431,6433,6432&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6429&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]49 members and guests enjoyed a traditional Burns Supper.
