Orange Days? These are the 16 November days Soroptimists dedicate to wearing that cheery colour. No, not just to brighten up the start of winter, but to highlight the grim fact that ever more women are subject to domestic violence. Most recently available statiscts calculate that every ten minutes another girl or woman is killed. And though those figures are global, no country is exempt, it\u2019s all just an appalling matter of degree.<br \/><br \/>La<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/the-hoad-lit-orange-crop\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-6830\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/files\/2024\/11\/The-Hoad-lit-orange-Crop-300x295.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"124\" height=\"122\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/files\/2024\/11\/The-Hoad-lit-orange-Crop-300x295.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/files\/2024\/11\/The-Hoad-lit-orange-Crop.jpg 465w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 124px) 100vw, 124px\" \/><\/a>st year, our own campaign involved bathing local monuments in glorious orange floodlight at night. We tied ribbons on gates to illustrate every donation we collected. And we were grateful and delighted to feature in the local press.<br \/><br \/>And now we<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/2025\/11\/10\/we-won-we-won-but-the-fight-against-domestic-violence-goes-on\/img_8026\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7145\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7145 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/files\/2025\/11\/IMG_8026-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"139\" height=\"104\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/files\/2025\/11\/IMG_8026-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/files\/2025\/11\/IMG_8026.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 139px) 100vw, 139px\" \/><\/a> are absolutely thrilled to have our work recognised, The Darwen Award is given by North Western Soroptimist for the most effective project in our region. The award itself is super-special. Fashioned from the former Chain Of Office of our former Darwin Club\u2019s president, itself depicting industrial scenes, it is a thing of beauty and a real honour to receive.<br \/><br \/>We are truly touched and honoured to have our campaign rewarded in this way, and we are very aware that many other club sisters \u2018oranging\u2019 their part of the world too. But like we said, we wish it wasn\u2019t so bitingly urgent to have Orange Days at all. Because it is, we\u2019ll be campaigning again this year.
