Fast fashion is one of the horrors of our time, involving child labour, sweated labour, and pollution.<\/p>\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_7153\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7153\" style=\"width: 88px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/2025\/11\/16\/swopping-clothes-changing-minds\/oplus_131104\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7153\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-7153\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/grange-over-sands\/files\/2025\/11\/IMG_20251108_083647-139x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"88\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7153\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 10px\"><em>Cocktails anyone?<\/em><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<p>According to Oxfam*, by 2050, the industry is on course to produce enough unwanted clothes to stretch almost from Earth to Mars. That\u2019s equivalent to nearly four outfits for every single person on the planet, or 138 billion items.<br \/>Swapping clothes gives your wardrobe that much needed lift, bypasses waste and can be a lovely social event. That was the thought behind the Grange-over-Sands Soroptimist Clothes Swap on 7th November.<\/p>\r\n<p>While guests enjoyed a glass of fizz, Mags from Evermore Vintage, a preloved and vintage shop in Ulverston showed us how to glam up our looks. In the mix were gorgeous frocks and tops and swirly skirts to take Cinders to any ball. All to swap for, all to enjoy.<\/p>\r\n<p>The evening was a joy, with lots of laughs and is sure to be repeated.
