[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Our main project with our Soroptimist Club in Mombasa and Ahadi a Kenyan Charity has been to raise funds to help eradicate a parasite which burrow into the feet of hands of children and adults alike. More information and pictures to follow.<\/span><\/p>\n

We held a Silent Charity Auction in aid of Breast Cancer Support in Great Yarmouth at 7pm on Friday 30th March at the Burlington Palm Court Hotel<\/strong>. All profits will go to Breast Cancer Charities and Cancer Support Groups and Services locally.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In Great Yarmouth we have been involved in various ways with the two local Refuges for women who have been victims of abuse. Our work involves supplying clothing and food and the other items that women need for themselves and their children, because some come to the refuge with nothing!<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u00a0make sure that when a woman arrives at the Refuge she is given essential\u00a0toiletries. The Club\u00a0members\u00a0have great fun getting together to provide these \u2013 they also make an attractive bag in which they can be kept.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have been involved in work trying to reduce violence against women. We raise awareness of the issues, supporting our 2 local refuges with a variety of donations and the local domestic violence forum. Lobbying our MP is also part of the process. We are also long time supporters of International Aid Trust providing donations.<\/p>\n

As well as choosing projects that are a priority for our members, we work in partnership to support others.\u00a0 Recently we partnered with GY library collecting feminine hygiene products for their Period Poverty campaign and now contribute to the BabyFirst scheme. GYROS has been our partner for an International Women\u2019s Day event over the past few years.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve recently sent a donation to Mombasa club for their Toilet Building in schools programme and previously partnered with them to deliver a programme to eradicate the Jiggers parasite.<\/p>\n

Other communities are suffering in the pandemic and we have been able to make a small donation to the Purple Community Fund with whom we worked and supported last year. Local charities are also the recipients of funds such as Aspire and the Benjamin Foundation.<\/p>\n
