Fun and laughter at the Burns Night Supper<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

January is a dreary month. Raising money for charity when we have to social distance can be a challenge. But this did not deter President Sandra and club members. We had \u00a0fun and laughter as we celebrated the life of Robbie Burns and raised \u00a3240 for Just \u2018B\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Guest Kevin Millar addressed the Haggis in true Scottish style. Our Burns supper was a special treat with the fantastic support of the French Chef at Home<\/a>\u2019s takeaway. So we tucked into our Haggis, Neeps and Tatties as well as a super shortbread pud. After supper, Soroptomister Jonathan, a regular band member with the Dark Horse Ceilidh Band<\/a>\u00a0, played the accordion as we sang (on mute of course) My Love is Like a Red Red Rose. Lesley entertained us as she spoke about the life of Robbie –\u00a0 and discovered he\u2019d popped down to Yorkshire!!<\/p>\n

Club members Maureen, Sylvia and Judith entertained us as we heard \u00a0about the Mouse, the Louse and the Highlands. Roger proposed the Toast to the lassies and Dorothy replied. We finished the night with a rousing rendition on Auld Lang Syne –\u00a0 unmuted. \u00a0So not for the feint hearted!!<\/p>\n

A GOOD NIGHT WAS HAD BY ALL<\/p>\n
