The first two United Nation\u2019s Sustainable Development\u00a0 Goals are to; 1, Stop Poverty, 2, Zero Hunger.\u00a0 In the UK families are going hungry because they cannot afford food. The Trussell Trust campaigns to stop the need for food banks.\u00a0 It also works to ensure that families don\u2019t go hungry by seeding Food Banks like Harrogate. \u00a0It has seen the demand increase from 200,000 food parcels ten years ago to over 2 million last year.<\/p>\n

All of us are facing higher cost of living due to energy and food price increases but if you are already struggling to make end meet more people may have to resort to visiting a Food Bank.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

The Club registered the Soroptimist Striders as a team who would join others throughout the UK on the 2nd<\/sup> April to RaceAgainstHunger by completing a 5K run\/walk<\/p>\n

The money is raised by individual and team sponsorship<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Club President Val, three Club members and two partners took part in walking from Bilton Junction along the old railway track to Ripley Castle.<\/p>\n

We raised over \u00a3700 thanks to Club members, family and friends<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
President Val said, \u2018 Food and energy poverty is affecting the lives of more people, particularly single parent families. We support our local food banks and also the important work the Trussell Trust in campaigning to \u2018Stop Hunger in the UK\u2019.
