President Christine and 5 club members were honoured to attend the High Sheriff of North Yorkshire Awards ceremony on 26th March 2025 at Allerton Castle. The award winners echoed the High Sheriff, Dr Ruth Smith\u2018s, \u00a0theme for her year,\u201d a focus on supporting vulnerable children particularly those impacted by domestic abuse\u201d.<\/div>\n

We were extremely proud to jointly sponsor this year\u2019s resilience award. President Christine was part of Dr Ruth Smith\u2019s judging panel, It was an extremely difficult job for the panel to come up with the final 7 award winners. There are so many hardworking and dedicated community organisations across North Yorkshire who support vulnerable children, a huge thank you goes to everyone involved. After discussing the various organisations, the panel agreed with the 7 finalists, who truly deserved their awards.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A representative from each of the community organisation winners gave inspirational and heartfelt accounts of their daily challenges and achievements.<\/div>\n

Presentation of Resilience Award<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

President Christine was delighted to present the resilience award to Autism Angels UK<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> in Nidderdale, for their resilience work with children & young people through horses, helping them bounce back despite knock backs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
We were thrilled to see 2 of our other local community organisations receive a High Sheriff award<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Just ‘B’<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> in Harrogate for their trauma-informed leadership work with children and New Beginnings Peer Support<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> for the work they do to empower children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse in and around Harrogate.<\/div>\n

The Wave Project for the creative ways they use to work alongside children & young people through their innovative surf project.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Island in York for their reflective practice and how they use that knowledge to develop their mentoring service for young people further.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Gallows Close Centre, Scarborough for putting children\u2019s voice at the heart of their delivery in their busy community centre.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
