{"id":352,"date":"2015-05-21T10:52:43","date_gmt":"2015-05-21T09:52:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/hertford-and-district\/?p=352"},"modified":"2018-01-03T11:46:38","modified_gmt":"2018-01-03T10:46:38","slug":"4th-may-2015-speaker-meeting-vic-hobson-from-mudlarks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/hertford-and-district\/2015\/05\/21\/4th-may-2015-speaker-meeting-vic-hobson-from-mudlarks\/","title":{"rendered":"4th May 2015 Speaker Meeting &#8211; Vic Hobson from Mudlarks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vic&#8217;s talk was entitled &#8216;Growing for Change&#8217;.\u00a0\u00a0 About 10years ago Vic wanted to set up something for 19 year olds and older who have learning difficulties.\u00a0 That &#8216;something&#8217; was Mudlarks, an allotment in the community where they can feel ownership and involvement.\u00a0 They started with a small garden shed and gradually grew, with support from various companies.\u00a0 As she said &#8216;Plants don&#8217;t care who you are.\u00a0 Plants are not threatening and provide a bit of stability.&#8217;\u00a0 They also now do some community gardening and have helped by working at the Castle in Hertford and town council gardens.\u00a0 They will also help the elderly with their gardens and some of our members benefit from this!!\u00a0 They also run the Mudlarks caf\u00e9 in Hertford and food they have grown is used there along with as much local produce as they can source.
