The speaker, Graham Craker (a retired police protection officer) is a volunteer at Macmillan Cancer Care<\/p>\n<p>He spoke about the founding in 1911, by Douglas Macmillan, of \u2018The Society for Prevention and Cure of Cancer\u2019 after he had seen his father die of cancer. This later became Macmillan Cancer Care.<\/p>\n<p>As well as supporting patients and the families, Macmillan sponsors nurses within the NHS for specialist training for 2 years to become Macmillan nurses.
