We were delighted to welcome Dr Zoe Jeffrey from the School of Engineering and Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire to speak at our July meeting. Her talk on \u201cExciting Careers in Engineering\u201d was refreshing and yet so disappointing to hear that our home grown female students are not encouraged to consider the diverse engineering jobs and we were told that there are jobs! We do need more role models and Zoe Jeffrey was the perfect role\u2026.as her introduction shows
\nDr Zoe Jeffrey is a full time senior lecturer in the School of Engineering and Technology at University of Hertfordshire. She received her BEng in Electronics and Computer Engineering and MSc in Nanotechnology and Nanoelectronics Devices at University of Surrey, UK in 2006 and 2007 respectively. She then completed her PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University of Hertfordshire, UK in 2013. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her current work includes learning and teaching and research in the area of digital signal processing and system-on-chip architectures. She is also a mother of a two year old.
\nShe also informed us that the University has developed a more female friendly workplace including flexible hours and childcare facilities in the campus.<\/p>\n
We were also delighted that our 2019\/2020 student who will receive our grant of \u00a3250 (provided she achieves her grades) found the talk more than interesting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
