\"Heswall<\/a><\/p>\n

The first International Women’s Day event was held in 1911. It quickly gained global \u00a0recognition and is marked on 8th<\/sup> March. International Women’s Day<\/a> (IWD) was marked for the first time by the United Nations in 1975.<\/p>\n

This year Heswall members joined Tomorrow\u2019s Women Wirral <\/a>to share their celebration of International Women\u2019s Day. They joined in a discussion session \u201cAccelerate Action\u201d, to share thoughts on how women\u00a0need to maintain action\/activities\u00a0to ensure their voices will be heard and changes will\/can be made.<\/p>\n

A second activity in Heswall celebrated and promoted IWD and also highlighted violence against women. Members ran an information table at Tesco and received donations for The Lighthouse Centre<\/a>. They also walked through the centre of Heswall with posters highlighting Women\u2019s Day and Soroptimism.<\/p>\n
