Welcome SI High Wycombe and District<\/h2>\n

We are a group of friendly women who enjoy fun, food and good company. We meet monthly at \u2018The Papermill\u2019, Loudwater, High Wycombe to eat together, to hear about the work of local and National charities and to organise fund-raising events for our chosen charities.<\/p>\n

RECENT ACTIVITIES IN OUR CLUB<\/h3>\n

Christmas Boxes for the Ladies at Wycombe Women\u2019s Aid<\/h4>\n

Again this year the members of Chalfont St Giles Rangers UK helped us in providing Christmas boxes for the Wycombe Women\u2019s Aid and they also made bowls for Women who are moving on from the refuge. They are pictured at their meeting as they packed a range of toiletries and household necessities. Members of SI High Wycombe and District made their boxes at their meeting on 6th November.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_media_grid element_width=”6″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1586161774496-da2e37f5-bfe4-1″ include=”375,374″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]A letter received from Wycombe Women\u2019s Aid thanked us for the gifts:<\/p>\n

\u2018On behalf of all of us here at Wycombe Women\u2019s Aid could you please thank all concerned at Soroptimist International High Wycombe & District, and Chalfont St Giles Rangers, for the wonderful boxes and washing up bowls that were delivered to us earlier today.\u00a0 We really do appreciate your kindness and generosity, as well as the huge amounts of time that must go into preparing and wrapping the boxes and washing up bowls, and your gifts are very much appreciated.\u00a0 We have stored everything safely, ready for Christmas, and we know that the boxes will be really enjoyed by the women and children we are working with.\u00a0 This was our first Christmas donation so you have started the ball rolling for us!\u00a0 The women do appreciate that others in the local community are thinking of them and your generosity will bring them a huge amount of joy.<\/p>\n

Thank you for your ongoing support of Wycombe Women\u2019s Aid \u2013 we are extremely grateful for everything that you do for us.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Thursday 25th October \u2013 Saturday 27th October 2018<\/h4>\n

Three members of SI High Wycombe & District attended the SIGBI Conference in Liverpool. We heard some interesting and motivating speakers and met with many old friends. Friday 4th October 2018<\/h4>\n

SATURDAY 13TH OCTOBER 2018<\/h4>\n

Two members of SI High Wycombe & District attended the \u2018Day of the Girl\u2019 event held at Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe where we met up with old friends from Rape Crisis and DOSTI and introduced Soroptimists to attenders at the event.<\/p>\n

SUNDAY 14TH OCTOBER 2018<\/h4>\n

Two members of SI High Wycombe & District attended the 60th Charter (Anniversary) lunch of SI Aylesbury, held at Weston Turville Golf Club.<\/p>\n

SATURDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER 2018<\/h4>\n

Two members of SI High Wycombe & District attended the 80th Charter Dinner of SI Worcester & District, one of our Friendship Clubs.<\/p>\n

We met many ex-SI High Wycombe members and their partners there: 1. Anne McLucas President SI Worcester; 2. Two members of SI High Wycombe with new friends; 3. Gillian Horigan, SI Bath; 4. SATURDAY 7TH JULY 2018<\/h4>\n

One of our members attended the 60th Charter dinner of SI Oxford & District<\/p>\n

\u2018BOWLS EVENING\u2019 17TH AUGUST 2018<\/h4>\n

Members had collected a load of items for our annual summer \u2018Bowls Evening\u2019 where we get together (with food and a glass) to prepare gifts for the families at Wycombe Women\u2019s Aid. The gifts are practical \u2013 washing up bowls filled with items that any new household needs when setting up. These are given to the families when they move from the shelter of the refuge into their own homes.<\/p>\n

Only four members were able to attend on the Friday night selected and they had a mountain of household items to assemble and pack.\u00a0 A bottle of Prosecco provided by our President, Jan Still, helped the proceedings[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1586162057321-b58b9ada-4645-0″ include=”354,352,351,350,349,348″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]On Tuesday 6th February we joined members of our friendship Club in Bath and other Soroptimists from the South West for an event to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Women\u2019s Suffrage.
\nThe event held in St Michael\u2019s Without, Bath. The Rev. Roger Driver and the Rev. Jane Haslam welcomed the guests and Pat Stevens told of her great aunt Laura Ainsworth\u2019s exploits as a Suffragette. Young people were represented by local Girlguiding groups\u00a0 and Tilda Snook described her vision of the place of women in the future, while Becca Tucker made a passionate plea for equality in all things. Guests were entertained by Walcot State Choir with their rendition of \u2018Unison in Harmony\u2019.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”333″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The phoograph shows the speakers and guests: (L-R) Tilda Snook, Julie Cooper (Bath Business Women\u2019s Association), Pat Stevens (Great Niece of Suffragette Laura Ainsworth), Anne Maw (Lord Lieutenant of Somerset), Cherry Beath (Chair of BANES Council), Professor Helen Young (President SI Bath), Daphne Dowsing (Regional SI President). International Day of the Girl\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

7th October 2017<\/p>\n

Six members of SI High Wycombe attended the celebration for International Day of the Girl at High Wycombe Town Hall. The day was one of friendship, sharing, and food! We set up a Soroptimist stall with information and photographs of our projects, and we all wore blue and white fascinators. Why? Well, we are fascinating women , belonging to an active, community-minded, internationally recognised organisation and having fun doing so. We welcomed old friends from organisations we have helped in the past, and made new ones. We hope we have gained several new members\u00a0 and enjoyed a vibrant, fun day.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1586162173933-2c235bce-cc0f-0″ include=”296,293,307,132″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Members at our 50th Anniversary Charter lunch<\/p>\n

      The local Soroptimist club is \u201cHigh Wycombe and District\u201d. It is a lively and diverse group of women members from High Wycombe and the surrounding areas. Throughout the year we arrange and challenge speakers on local and national issues, and participate in activities so that we are\u00a0\u201cwomen working together to make a difference\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
