To mark SIGBI’s Day of Action on 12th July 2025<\/strong> <\/span>our Clubs in the UK were recently asked to decide on one key element of life that they hoped would be fulfilled in the near future.\u00a0 SI Ipswich members decided to make this about Health & Wellbeing<\/strong><\/span> as that underpins so many other aspects, indeed is the basis of being happy, fulfilled, looking forward to the future.\u00a0 Currently, it seems to be a real issue for many people where stress is contributing to poor health and undermining their confidence, in part owing to concerns about the cost of living, the<\/span>\u00a0NHS backlog, their children’s education, their jobs, the condition of their home and much more.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is our poster of HOPE and we want to see action on all the different elements featured in our SUN’S RAYS – FROM THE GOVERNMENT, FROM VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS, OUR NHS, AND OURSELVES.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are looking to see additional resources that will benefit both physical and mental health, enabling improvement through appropriate and timely treatment.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We want to see motivation to eat better food, with supermarkets taking more responsibility for what is on their shelves.\u00a0 How about cookery lessons back in the Classroom?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Investment in physical recreation facilities, through community associations, local councils, and no more cuts to budgets.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Taking the stigma out of visiting sexual health clinics.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Promoting the need for vaccination and regular screening of dangerous diseases; stopping the myths that seriously undermine takeup.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Creating greater community so that friendships are made and help sustain the individuals<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

SIGBI HAVE CREATED A SERIES OF HEALTH CARDS AND OUR AIM IS TO GET THESE DISTRIBUTED FAR AND WIDE – WE RECENTLY SENT THE HPV VACCINATION CARD AND THE CERVICAL SCREENING CARD TO 20 GP SURGERIES IN THE IPSWICH & EAST SUFFOLK AREA.<\/span><\/strong>th<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"For<\/span><\/a><\/span> Cervical Cancer Prevention Week we aimed to raise awareness of this disease.\u00a0 It is one of the hidden conditions and the only way to protect yourself is to have regular screening.\u00a0 All women and girls are advised to participate but for a number of reasons only 1 in 4 invited to have the regular testing make the appointment.\u00a0 This leads to many untimely deaths of young women who would probably otherwise go on to lead a full and long life.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is a simple procedure and those who undertake the testing know that it can be a bit scary first time round. They will do their best to minimise any discomfort.\u00a0 Don’t be embarassed.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
