From: Angela Jeune and Madeliene Todd – Joint Presidents
As Past Presidents from 2006 and 2007 we decided to share the Presidency for this year and are looking forward to a varied and challenging year.
Since our previous tenure there have been many changes in the world and in Soroptimism but one thing that remains constant is the spirit of Soroptimists to make a change for the better in the lives of women and children around the world. To achieve this Programme Action is the life-blood of any Soroptimist Club and ours is no different.
As we move into our year the overseas focus will be on supporting the international project Mt. Meru Womens’ Gardens in Kenya and we have planned a garden party in connection with this. We will continue to support local charities and community projects through events such as a Bridge Day and of course we also aim to have some fun with various social events.
At the commencement of each meeting we aim to have an interesting speaker on matters of current interest.
New members are welcome to join us from all walks of life.
We also welcome fellow Soroptimists who may be visiting the Island to meet us and also to join us for our Friendship Weekend on 30th September/1st October , details of which can be obtained from either of the Presidents.
Our parent Federation – SIGBI – is facing up to the changing world by proposing significant changes to its structure and management and we as a Club must also be prepared and ready to adapt to change.
