Welcome to Soroptimist International Jersey<\/h2>\n

One of over 3,000 Soroptimist clubs in 120 countries worldwide. Our Island Club is proud to be part of this global volunteer women\u2019s organisation, founded in 1921, working to transform the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Key activities include advocating for gender equality, working to eliminate violence against women, supporting local charities and providing education grants.<\/p>\n

The name \u2018Soroptimist\u2019 was coined by combining the Latin words soro<\/em> \u2018sister\u2019 and optima<\/em> \u2018best\u2019 and can be taken to mean \u2018best for women.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Club holds meetings on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the Monterey Hotel in St. Saviour’s Road, at 7.00 p.m (see Meeting Dates<\/a>).\u00a0 You can have a chat with our Membership Secretary or come along to a meeting, with no obligation.<\/p>\n

The age range of members is 20s to 90s! we welcome women who are new to the Island or who have lived here all their lives.<\/p>\n
