S.A.M.E. 2014 – 2015 page 2

What is happening at S.A.M.E. We have recently obtained funding to provide plants, hanging baskets etc to improve the local area. We all joined with B.M.D.C. employees to “litter pick” and clean up the local area. We are hoping that once done this will inspire the residents to keep it up to date.
Flower beds in the Compton Street area have been dug and plants when ready in the polytunnel will be distributed along with the hanging baskets.

9th March 2015 – INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY EVENT held at Eastwood School
Emily Hill spoke at this event about her trip to assist in training midwives in Uganda. A dance demonstration was given by a male dancer from Bradford who then invited all to join in and follow his movements. Soroptimists did a short piece of dialogue about PEACE. In all it was a good evening of friendship, dance and sharing with other women to raise monies to help Emily Hill in her work in Uganda. A figure of more than £450 is expected to be raised.
