Happily Club seem really keen on the T towel idea and I get the go ahead to do this.\u00a0\u00a0 This gets husband Dave and me thinking about other fun ways my Club could raise money to support the training of paediatric nurses in Malawi.<\/p>\n

But we are not a fund raising organisation I hear you cry!<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

True, but when I\u2019ve discussed this before with longer standing members of my Club, I accept that it\u2019s not all about lobbying and service.\u00a0\u00a0 In order to make a difference, and educate, empower and enable, we sometimes will need to raise funds.\u00a0\u00a0 And we do have the reassurance that 99.7 pence in every pound will get to this project via Friends of Sick Children in Malawi.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So \u2013 ideas all based on raising \u00a32 per person.<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Show and tell evening<\/strong> \u2013 pay \u00a32 to bring an item beginning with \u2018M\u2019 and tell everyone about it.\u00a0\u00a0 Maybe invite a friend so that they can see the laughs we have at Club meetings.<\/p>\n

Afternoon tea <\/strong>\u2013 it turns out that Malawi supplies tea to Fairtrade so that could be a double whammy.\u00a0\u00a0 Our club raised a fantastic \u00a3400 with a very swiftly organised tea party to raise funds following the Nepal Earthquake disaster.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Soroptimists can move amazingly quickly when we need to!<\/p>\n

Recipes from Malawi <\/strong>\u2013 we check some out on the internet but to be honest I\u2019m not very convinced that they would suit British palates!\u00a0\u00a0 Maybe once we\u2019ve come back from Blantyre we\u2019ll be in a better place to judge.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We could share our own favourite recipes and charge \u00a32 for a booklet.\u00a0\u00a0 Could be hilarious if we manipulate the title of the recipe to begin with \u2018M\u2019!<\/p>\n

Making things with \u00a32 of materials and then\u00a0 selling them <\/strong>\u2013 hmmm, I\u2019m about as creative as a plastic carrier bag so I\u2019m not sure about this idea but other members are certainly very gifted.<\/p>\n

Competition to list as many words that can you create from the initials of Friends of Sick Children in Malawi , educate, empower, enable \u2013 FOSCIMEEE<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em> Ok so that\u2019s too contrived and anyway I\u2019m hopeless at Scrabble and spelling.\u00a0\u00a0 Maybe a word-search would be easier!<\/p>\n

Quizzes \u2013 and pay \u00a32 to enter<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 This could work, especially if I get Dave to write them!\u00a0\u00a0 This would also be a way to educate ourselves about Malawi; the project and how Friends of Sick Children in Malawi are working to support clinical staff to reduce child mortality.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s already thought of one question that I didn\u2019t know the answer to \u2013<\/p>\n
