{"id":1124,"date":"2015-09-09T11:47:07","date_gmt":"2015-09-09T10:47:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/?p=1124"},"modified":"2015-09-09T11:47:07","modified_gmt":"2015-09-09T10:47:07","slug":"september-2015-finally-i-can-see-my-dining-table","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/2015\/09\/09\/september-2015-finally-i-can-see-my-dining-table\/","title":{"rendered":"September 2015 &#8211; Finally I can see my dining table!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well one of us is happy.\u00a0\u00a0 Dave is in his element working out how to fit all the medical supplies we\u2019ve collected into the smallest space possible.\u00a0\u00a0 I, who have no spatial awareness, and can\u2019t do a jigsaw to save my life, take on the role of chief tea maker, cook and bottle washer.\u00a0\u00a0 Team work!<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly we can easily stay within the bag weight of 23kg, what is causing the most headaches is the sheer volume to pack.\u00a0\u00a0 I even contact Ethiopian Airlines to ask if we could possibly be allowed an extra piece of luggage but as their normal allowance is already more generous than most airlines, sadly to no avail.\u00a0 Oh well, it doesn\u2019t hurt to ask, thankfully Dave is a master at getting a quart into a pint sized pot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"\/kenilworth-and-district\/files\/2015\/09\/IMG_1628.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1127\" src=\"\/kenilworth-and-district\/files\/2015\/09\/IMG_1628-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1628\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/files\/2015\/09\/IMG_1628-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/files\/2015\/09\/IMG_1628.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center\">and we&#8217;ve still got to fit this into the 4 bags!<\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re definitely only going to be able to have cabin luggage for our personal use so I\u2019m back to the power of two \u2013 2 T shirts, 2 short sleeve blouses, 2 long sleeved, 2 skirts, 2 trousers.\u00a0\u00a0 As I\u2019m British and although the temperature will be hitting 30oC, I still pack a cardy.\u00a0\u00a0 I shall manage with 2 pairs of sandals and travel in a pair of shoes.\u00a0\u00a0 Following advice from my more adventurous friends who have done VSO, I pack as much underwear as I can fit into my cabin case on the grounds that they are the hardest thing to purchase in Africa.\u00a0\u00a0 I don\u2019t think they have M&amp;S in Blantyre anyway!<\/p>\n<p>I look out the largest handbag I possess in order to take a bag of colourful babygros.\u00a0\u00a0 For some reason Dave declines a man-bag and opts for a small rucksack for his camera etc.\u00a0\u00a0 Wonder if he\u2019d notice if I sneak some toys in!<\/p>\n<p>Now how hot was it at the end of June this year?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well one of us is happy.\u00a0\u00a0 Dave is in his element working out how to&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":523,"featured_media":1125,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[27],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1124","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sharons-blog"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>September 2015 - Finally I can see my dining table! | News | Blog | Events | SI Kenilworth and District<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"SI Kenilworth and District : Blog &amp; News : September 2015 - Finally I can see my dining table! : Keep up to date with the latest news, articles and events from the Soroptimists of SI Kenilworth and District .
