{"id":1345,"date":"2016-03-24T08:02:13","date_gmt":"2016-03-24T08:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/?p=1345"},"modified":"2016-03-25T09:20:58","modified_gmt":"2016-03-25T09:20:58","slug":"public-speaking-competition-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/2016\/03\/24\/public-speaking-competition-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Speaking Competition 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our annual Midland Arden Public Speaking Competition took place in the prestigious Council Chambers of Dudley.<\/p>\n<p>Principle guests included the\u00a0 Mayor and Mayoress of\u00a0 Dudley along with Mr J K\u00a0 Sharma Consulate General of India. Also in attendance was Immediate Past International President Ann Garvie, Immediate Past Federation President Jenny Vince and Midland Arden\u00a0 Regional President Susan Roxburgh.<\/p>\n<p>Parents, teachers, friends, and Soroptimists gave their support to\u00a0 7 candidates who spoke exceptionally well on a variety of subjects.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of The 1st prize Trophy plus \u00a3150 was\u00a0Lydia Robinson whose chosen subject\u00a0&#8220;No Great Genius has been without some Madness\u201d\u00a0Lydia was sponsored by SI Stourbridge.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the 2nd Prize Trophy plus \u00a375 was Oliver Webb whose chosen subject was &#8220;Social Media \u2013 Master or Servant (friend or Foe)&#8221;.
