{"id":1484,"date":"2016-09-30T11:45:49","date_gmt":"2016-09-30T10:45:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/?p=1484"},"modified":"2016-09-30T11:47:40","modified_gmt":"2016-09-30T10:47:40","slug":"kenilworth-soroptimists-supporting-paediatric-care-in-malawi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/2016\/09\/30\/kenilworth-soroptimists-supporting-paediatric-care-in-malawi\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenilworth Soroptimists supporting paediatric care in Malawi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kenilworth Soroptimists, along with wonderful support from other clubs in Midland Arden Region and in particular SI Stourbridge and District, are raising money to help improve Malawian children\u2019s medical services through the charity \u2018Friends of sick Children in Malawi\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Local artist and Soroptimist Jane Powell has created an <a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/2016\/09\/20\/regional-poster-competition\/\">art work <\/a>to depict and promote the involvement of Kenilworth club in this important works.<\/p>\n<p>Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. Reducing child mortality is a United Nations priority for this country.<\/p>\n<p>Soroptimist\u2019s Clubs have raised funds to support a second nurse through paediatric training. The nurse selected for this specialist training has been described as simply outstanding by the Head of Emergency Paediatric Care in Malawi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/kenilworth-and-district\/files\/2016\/09\/Elizabeth-e1475232277106.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1486\" src=\"\/kenilworth-and-district\/files\/2016\/09\/Elizabeth-e1475232277106-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Elizabeth\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/files\/2016\/09\/Elizabeth-e1475232277106-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kenilworth-and-district\/files\/2016\/09\/Elizabeth-e1475232277106.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Patricia Weinbren from the Kenilworth Club said \u2018as Soroptimists we are committed to help women throughout the world achieve their full potential. Supporting specialist nurse training is at the heart of our values to educate, empower and enable women.
