Well for our Club the question should be ‘how much fun can you have?<\/h1>\n

Adapting the saying ‘ All work and no play makes June a dull month’ certainly doesn’t apply to our Club.\u00a0 \u00a0Whilst we stay committed to standing up for women, and gender equality, and doing our bit for the environment,\u00a0 we still know how to enjoy ourselves.\u00a0 \u00a0Whether we meet via Zoom or in person staying within the current Covid guidelines.\u00a0 \u00a0With a glass of something bubbly, and usually some cake, our members always commit whole heartedly to what every project we’re working on.\u00a0 \u00a0 Do read on!<\/p>\n

World Environment Day<\/h2>\n

\"Purple<\/a>Our speaker this month was Richard Baxter who has campaigns for Greenpeace\u00a0 <\/em><\/a>Greenpeace started almost 50 years ago.\u00a0 \u00a0 It continues to raise awareness and lobby about the environment.<\/p>\n

We leant that plastic was originally invented in 1869 as an alternative for ivory, tortoiseshell and horn – all very laudable.\u00a0 \u00a0 It certainly makes possessions lighter, safer and more affordable.<\/p>\n

The problem is that only 9% of plastic is recycled.\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong>And a new problem identified is microfibre from clothing.\u00a0 \u00a0Who knew?<\/p>\n

So, ever resourceful as a Club, instead of swapping recipes, we swapped more ideas on how to reduce our use of plastic and increase our recycling.<\/p>\n
