Purple reigns!<\/h1>\n

\"\"For one day only, purple will be the colour for the park benches in Abbey Fields!\u00a0 \u00a0Because it’s\u00a0International Women’s Day!<\/em>\u00a0 \u00a0March 8th every year is International Women’s Day and purple is the colour we use to celebrate it.<\/h2>\n

We’ll be decorating the benches in our local park, Abbey fields with purple garlands, pom poms, pennants and flowers. Each bench will feature the picture and words of a strong woman to inspire, interest and encourage passers by to think about International Women’s Day.<\/h2>\n

Our benches will be reigning purple!<\/h3>\n

So what is International Women’s Day all about?<\/h2>\n

\"\"The theme this year is ‘Embracing Equity<\/a><\/strong><\/em>‘<\/p>\n

For International Women’s Day and beyond, let’s all fully\u00a0#EmbraceEquity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Equity isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s a must-have.<\/p>\n

A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society’s DNA.<\/p>\n

And it’s critical to understand the difference between\u00a0equity<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0equality<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

IWD\u00a02023’s campaign theme\u00a0aims to get the world talking about why\u00a0“equal opportunities\u00a0are no longer enough.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s our day to celebrate by sharing words, poems, sayings from marvellous women.\u00a0 \u00a0They are from all walks of life but what they have to say is truly inspirational.<\/p>\n

These are just a few examples of the women whose inspirational ideas we have embraced.<\/h2>\n
