Diary of the Month – December 2021

Phrase of the month:  Soroptimists promote Goodwill and Understanding among nations

2nd       Our monthly business meeting took place in the offices of Nightstop in Worcester Street, Kidderminster.  President Sue had the privilege of presenting one of our members, Christine Holloway, with a certificate celebrating 25 years as a Soroptimist.  Chris is a much-loved member and an inspiration to us all.

3rd        The Nightstop charity held a Christmas coffee morning at their offices which members attended to meet staff and get to know the work that the charity carries out every day.

4th        The Regional Meeting at Chesford Grange in Kenilworth was very efficiently organised with over 70 members from Midland Arden attending.  Six of our members were there and heard speakers from the Probation Service and Victim Commissioners Office with Dame Vera Baird giving information updates in her very no-nonsense way, bringing women’s issues to the fore.  Everyone was asked to wear ORANGE to shed light on our Violence Against Women campaign.  A friendly and informative day.

This month, all members of the club were asked to hold a Christmas sherry and mince pie afternoon during the 16 days of action for the Violence Against Women campaign and raise money to be donated to the Humanity and Inclusion charity.

The above photo was produced by SIGBI to commemorate women who became new members of Soroptimist International during our 100th year.  Our three new members are pictured in the second nought.  They are:  Lucy Edgar – who completed a Santa Walk this month for Kemp Hospice; Bronwen Durnin – she likes to attend Regional meetings and supplies a lovely cup of tea or coffee at our meetings:  Pauline Carrier – she has taken over organising our monthly water walks and helps organise our supper meetings at the Brasserie.  Lovely to have you with us.

15th      We all met face to face for our Christmas meal at the Brasserie when everyone was asked to do a lateral flow test before attending.  A lovely time was had by all with a Secret Santa and Christmas Quiz produced by one of our Soroptimisters.

Happy New Year .
