{"id":5011,"date":"2025-07-29T13:58:29","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T12:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kidderminster-and-district\/?p=5011"},"modified":"2025-07-29T13:58:29","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T12:58:29","slug":"welcome-bags-for-refuge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kidderminster-and-district\/2025\/07\/29\/welcome-bags-for-refuge\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome Bags for Refuge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kidderminster&#8217;s Sewing Sisters group have made 12 &#8216;Welcome Bags&#8217; for the local Refuge which contain toiletries and gifts including a notepad and pen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We have supported the local Refuge over the years in a number of ways and the Manager asked if we could provide &#8216;Welcome Bags&#8217; to include a wider range of toiletries and essentials that the Refuge is currently unable to fund. We decided to make an attractive drawstring bag to hold the items as a project for the Sewing Sisters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Over several sessions the Sewing Sisters group, meeting at a Member&#8217;s house, have made 12 bags from donated fabrics. Items were purchased from Club funds and Member&#8217;s donations. These were delivered on 11 July 2025 to mark SIGBI&#8217;s Day of Action and the International Day of Hope on 12 July. These Welcome Bags can offer hope for a better life as they make a new start when entering the Refuge.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The bags have been well received and it is an ongoing project for the Sewing Sisters group.
