[vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=”6″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1593786641063-9ff073b2-cd54-6″ include=”1222,1358″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Women Aloud was an exciting event that brought together a host of women\u2019s organisations to celebrate International Women\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

This exciting event took place on Friday 8th March and Saturday 9th March 2019 in the beautiful Assembly Rooms of King\u2019s Lynn Town Hall, and was held with the kind permission of the Mayor of King\u2019s Lynn. The event was also supported financially by the Trustees Audrey Muriel Stratford Charitable Trust.<\/p>\n

As detailed in the Programme<\/a> as well as a number of speakers, numerous stalls there was music and dancing. It is hoped there was something for everyone to enjoy. The event was open to the public during the daytime, with the evening reception being open to organisations and interested individuals who had contacted the club for invitations.<\/p>\n

On the Friday afternoon there was a JayaDance Bollywood\/Bhangra dance workshop<\/a>. Everyone was welcome to join in and enjoy the fun as can be seen on The Lynn News online article<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Friday evening the Marham Military Wives Choir<\/a> entertained together with the Keynote Speaker Josephine Reynolds<\/a> – UK’s first female firefighter. Please see more details in the Lynn News article<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Throughout the 2 day event there were stands, art exhibition, refreshments and presentations by organisations who joined us.<\/p>\n

The stands represented a variety of organisations and businesses including Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB), East Anglia Women in Business, Action for Children, Hunstanton Inner Wheel, Samaritans, Talking Newspapers plus many more.<\/p>\n

During the event collections were received for the Tricky Period Project and old jewellery for the SIGBI Diamond Education Grant charity.<\/p>\n

On the Saturday afternoon there was the presentation of the prizes for the Art Competition, followed by a number of presentations and a performance by The Rock Choir.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Art Competition was for school aged children and has been very successful in attracting interest, with all the children from one school taking part.<\/p>\n

Soroptimist International of Kings Lynn members are very grateful for all the support we have received for the event and wish to express our thanks to everyone and in particular The Mayor of King\u2019s Lynn and West Norfolk, Nick Daubney, for giving us the use of the public rooms of the Town Hall and for his presence during the two days of the event together with the Trustees of Audrey Muriel Stratford Charitable Trust for their financial support for the event.<\/p>\n
