{"id":5268,"date":"2025-11-17T19:27:37","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T18:27:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kings-lynn\/?p=5268"},"modified":"2025-11-17T19:27:37","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T18:27:37","slug":"regional-president-honour-for-kings-lynn-club-member","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kings-lynn\/2025\/11\/17\/regional-president-honour-for-kings-lynn-club-member\/","title":{"rendered":"Regional president honour for King\u2019s Lynn club member"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of 5 members from Soroptimist International of King\u2019s Lynn attended the Federation Conference in Birmingham the first weekend in November 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday was the day for the change over of Presidents and the members of Soroptimist International of King\u2019s Lynn were very proud to see their member Kim Bramham become the Regional President for the London Anglia Region.<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kings-lynn\/files\/2025\/11\/Regional-board-member-Sharon-Richardson-with-Federation-President-Gillie-ORourke-and-Regional-President-Kim-Bramham.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5269\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kings-lynn\/files\/2025\/11\/Regional-board-member-Sharon-Richardson-with-Federation-President-Gillie-ORourke-and-Regional-President-Kim-Bramham-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kings-lynn\/files\/2025\/11\/Regional-board-member-Sharon-Richardson-with-Federation-President-Gillie-ORourke-and-Regional-President-Kim-Bramham-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/kings-lynn\/files\/2025\/11\/Regional-board-member-Sharon-Richardson-with-Federation-President-Gillie-ORourke-and-Regional-President-Kim-Bramham.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kim commented: Attending Conference is always inspiring, and this year more so as it is quite a few years since a member of the King\u2019s Lynn club has had the honour of being Regional President.\u00a0 I chose \u2018Togetherness and Unity for Women and Girls\u2019 as my theme because we can make a difference when we work together.\u00a0 I am looking forward to the coming year, when we will continue to work on raising awareness of issues that affect women and girls locally, across East Anglia and further afield.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday there were various workshops during the day ranging from United Nations and Advocacy, Women and Poverty, The Planet, Preventing Violence. The King\u2019s Lynn club was pleased to be one of the clubs that were invited to present an overview of their work earlier this year, when they worked in partnership with King\u2019s Lynn Parkrun to promote International Women\u2019s Day 2025.\u00a0 The workshops not only gave members more information to help with their work but also a chance for members to discuss the topics. Everyone left with many new ideas and a long to do list!<\/p>\n<p>The Conference was a first for our new member Bea \u201cwho was amazed by the large number of enthusiastic and industrious women attending, making locally a difference in their respective clubs. I met Soroptimists from Calcutta, Trinidad &amp; Tobago, Nepal as well as from all corners of the UK and Ireland. I found the incoming Soroptimist Director of Advocacy, Berthe de Vos-Neven, particularly inspiring as she reminded us all that we are an NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) in addition to our charitable efforts and she emphasised that we all have a voice at the UN and how much advocacy matters to help shape global policies, standing up for women and girls.
