When one of our club members was asked to display some of her work at a village open garden event, it seemed a good opportunity to showcase some of the projects undertaken for the British Legion and Soroptimist International (SI).<\/p>\n

As well as being Poppy Appeals Organiser for Longdon, Bev Billings is also a member of SI Lichfield and District.\u00a0 On display were knitted poppies, dresses made from pillowcases and other donated materials, knitted handicrafts from their Xmas Fayre and a selection of hand crafted items which help generate funds for local, national and international charities.<\/p>\n

Bev was also on hand to explain the projects SI Lichfield and District are involved with and handed out over 20 \u201cWhat\u2019s a Soroptimist\u201d flyers during the event.\u00a0 Bev has received many offers of surplus bedding from which the club can make more dresses.<\/p>\n

SI Lichfield & District receive another plug as club member Liz Leaver\u2019s garden was one of\u00a012 participating in the weekend event held to raise funds for the local church.\u00a0 The event was well supported by family and club members and was a good example of how to \u201cspread the word\u201d about what we do (if you\u2019ll pardon the pun!).<\/p>\n
