{"id":531,"date":"2012-03-18T22:34:01","date_gmt":"2012-03-18T21:34:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/lichfield\/?p=531"},"modified":"2020-07-31T13:53:00","modified_gmt":"2020-07-31T12:53:00","slug":"soroptimists-support-staffordshire-young-carers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/lichfield\/2012\/03\/18\/soroptimists-support-staffordshire-young-carers\/","title":{"rendered":"Soroptimists support Staffordshire Young Carers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/lichfield\/files\/2012\/03\/DSCF2743.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-533\" src=\"\/lichfield\/files\/2012\/03\/DSCF2743-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Liz Partridge, caseworker for Young Carers in Lichfield, Burntwood and Tamworth, came to talk to us about the impact of the Drumming\u00a0DVD and Sponsorship for a Cookery Day.<\/p>\n<p>The DVD has been used all over Staffordshire for fundraising talks and awareness raising at school assemblies.\u00a0 This is in addition to the enjoyment of the young carers who attended the drumming workshop and then were able to have a premier night with their families.<\/p>\n<p>The cookery day was very popular and 10 young carers learned to make a full roast dinner followed by apple crumble.\u00a0 They are often the food providers in households and regularly use ready made items.\u00a0 This was an opportunity to both enjoy the company of others but also to learn a valuable skill for the future.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Liz was also able to let us know that funding has been reduced for the service and there have been talks of time limited intervention for young carers as others wait on a\u00a0waiting list.\u00a0 Lichfield Club will be considering how this could be turned into a service project so that more young people can access the service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Liz Partridge, caseworker for Young Carers in Lichfield, Burntwood and Tamworth, came to talk to&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":263,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-531","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-archive"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Soroptimists support Staffordshire Young Carers | News | Blog | Events | SI Lichfield and District<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"SI Lichfield and District : Blog &amp; News : Soroptimists support Staffordshire Young Carers : Keep up to date with the latest news, articles and events from the Soroptimists of SI Lichfield and District .
