It’s National Allotment Week 8th to 14th August 2022. Club co-President Nancy – a keen grower herself – reflects on the please she derives from growing her own. \"National<\/a>From the hope and expectation of sowing seeds, to hopefully the joy of harvest, thousands of people every year enjoy the quiet time spent on their allotment. That area of land usually rented a short journey away from home can be an area of intense activity, and an opportunity to get to know new neighbours who will hopefully in times of plenty swap a few handfuls of their harvest with a little of your surplus veg, fruit or herbs.<\/p>\n

\"National<\/a>The U.K. has recently seen an increase in those who wish to become a little more self sufficient in growing their own seasonal produce, and waiting lists have increased to gain a plot of land to rent in the local allotments. But it’s not just Fruit, Vegetables and herbs found in the allotments…they need a little help and not just to be fed with fertiliser or watered .. there needs to be some pollinating bugs about to make that all important start to a successful harvest.<\/p>\n

\"National<\/a>The National Allotments Society as part of National Allotments Week 2022 theme are working with\u00a0Buglife<\/a>\u00a0to find out exactly which creepy crawlies are lurking in your plot! \u2026. Take part in the survey \u2026 Bugs, Bees and Broccoli which acknowledges the importance of gardening with nature in mind.<\/p>\n
