[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]All Soroptimist Clubs connect through friendship links and SI Liverpool are no exception to this. We have four friendship links within the Soroptimist Federations.<\/p>\n

In the past we have enjoyed friendship visits to and from Cologne, Eisenach, Douglas, Oslo and Chalons-Sur-Saone and have made some lasting friendships along the way.<\/p>\n

October 2018<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We are looking forward to welcoming four of our Soroptisisters from Cologne to the city of Liverpool for the SIGBI Conference.A warm welcome to\u00a0<\/span>Sylvia Achenbach ,\u00a0Nora Feldhausen, Christiane Rieker and\u00a0Ilse Kiel. Also welcome to Ilsa’s Soroptimister Keith! We are sure you will enjoy not only the conference but also a warm welcome from the club too!<\/p>\n

June 2017<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our sister club, SI Cologne\u00a0 not only celebrated their 60th anniversary but our two clubs also celebrated our 30th anniversary as friendship clubs. Thirteen members of SI Liverpool, with their Soroptimisters, attended a wonderful weekend’s\u00a0 celebration in Cologne. On Friday, we were welcomed to the Town Hall of Cologne with a barbecue and an evening of friendship. On Saturday, at the beautiful Floral Gardens, we enjoyed presentations from the club’s partnerships, and in the evening, we celebrated a gala dinner. On Sunday morning, at the Chocolate Factory, we enjoyed a celebration of of our clubs’s friendship. President Dorothy gave a painting of the Liverpool waterfront, by club member Ann Clayton, to each member of SI Cologne. The morning finished with singing, dancing and a wonderful send-off![\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”457″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]September 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n

We welcomed our sisters (and some of their Soroptimisters) from SI Cologne to the city for a friendship weekend with the theme \u201cCity of Culture, City of Life\u201d. After a welcome meal at the Liner Hotel on the Friday evening, we packed a full day of activities on Saturday.The visitors were firstly invited to the City Town Hall (Liverpool was one of the first cities ever to be twinned post war, and that was with Cologne). We were hosted by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr. Tony Concepcion, and enjoyed a reception in the Lady Mayoress\u2019s Parlour, where gifts were exchanged between the President of SI Cologne and the Lord Mayor. We were given a tour of the Town Hall by the Lord Mayor himself. We then headed towards the Museum of Liverpool Life and some visitors went to the Beatles\u2019 Museum. After lunch, we assembled at the Tate Modern, where we had afternoon tea . Jim Graves from Merseyside Adventure Sailing Trust (one of our Presidential charities) gave a talk about the Apprentices\u2019 Cup, partly funded by SI LIverpool. We watched a video showing life on board a tall-ship. This was followed by a visit to a tall ship in the docks.In the evening,we enjoyed a wonderful meal at \u201cEt Alia\u201d in Aigburth. On Sunday morning, we set off on a \u201cMagical Mystery Tour\u201dand learned about the Beatles history as well as visiting their homes. Our final gathering was at our club venue, Aigburth People\u2019s Hall, and after a meal prepared by a club member, Scouse of course with apple pie, our happy visitors set off for the airport and home.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
