We were thrilled to have a virtual meeting with members of one of our friendship clubs, SI Bombay Chembur in January. They gave an excellent presentation about the work that they have done during the pandemic including raising funds for local causes by holding several virtual events and webinars. The meeting was arranged by our member Madhu who has family in the vicinity of the club.<\/p>\n

Our January speaker was Matt Wright from Feed the Minds. Janet has chosen the charity to support during her time as President. They are an international development charity and their motto is ‘Education makes a world of difference’. Among their projects in the developing world are health education, literacy and farming skills. They focus on women who have missed out on education usually due to conflict in their area and work with trusted local organisations.<\/p>\n

Later in the month we had a virtual social Coffee morning. We also had a coffee morning in February with a raffle drawn to win lovely bags crocheted by Madhu. Our speaker in February was Jasmin Ahmed, Wales Anti-Slavery co-ordinator for MARAC (Multi-agency risk assessment conference). We were joined by several guests from the Region including President Louise.\u00a0 We all raised our hands for International Women’s Day to show we’re in and that we commit to choose to challenge and call out inequality.<\/p>\n

In March, we had a very successful virtual Tropic pamper party courtesy of Sue Cannon-Brock who is an ambassador for the products which are completely natural and vegan.\u00a0 The company also try to use recyclable packaging as well.\u00a0 Sue donated her commission of \u00a3137 to Janet’s charities.<\/p>\n
