[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We were fortunate to be able to hold our Christmas dinner before Covid caused further disruption. Several members and some partners enjoyed a lovely evening at the St Tudno’s Hotel in Llandudno. Our meetings in January were held virtually including a talk from Gerrie Bailey of Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline. She updated us on the families that they support and told us of their worries about the possible Russian invasion.<\/p>\n

We started meeting at the Church Hall again in February and welcomed a new member, Sue Groom. Sue was introduced to the club by her friend Sue Cannon-Brock. Sue is a talented baker and contributed several cakes, along with other members, to our sale which was held later in the month. The cake sale raised over \u00a3400 for Mary’s Meals and this was match funded so doubled the donation. Our speaker for February was a representative from the Welsh charity ‘Chwarae Teg’ (meaning Fair Play). They empower women, working for equality, diversion and inclusion. Several club members attended the Regional Conference on Climate Change held in Llandudno in February. The conference included a competition for the ‘Barabara Dixon Award’ for the club who held the best project involving climate change. Our club decided to help the local beauty spot, Happy Valley which suffered much damage in the storm of November 2021. Several members have joined the ‘Friends of Happy Valley’, volunteering with gardening and litter picking.<\/p>\n

Our annual Charter Lunch was held on March 6th where we were joined by guests from all over our region and from our friendship link club, SI Pendleside. The entertainment was provided by Colwyn Bay Ukulele Group who gave a lively and uplifting performance. Members gathered on Llandudno promenade on March 12th to celebrate International Women’s Day. We were joined by the Mayor of Llandudno, Councillor Harry Saville and local Senedd member Janet Finch-Saunders. The final event of Janet’s year as President was a Welsh themed friendship evening. The church hall was decorated and the food also had a Welsh theme. The speaker was Trefor Lewis who told the history of several influential and important Welsh women.<\/p>\n
