Clatterbridge Hospital on the Wirral serves patients from a large area including most of North Wales, for certain cancer treatments. A total of 27,000 patients were treated at Clatterbridge in the last year, including over 400 from North Wales. The charity has a target of \u00a31.5 million for this year, which will be used to directly benefit patients and their families, and for further research. Louise explained that in the past, money has been used to improve the ambience of rooms used by patients and their relatives and another example is to provide funding for patients\u2019 wigs. The charity also pays for face masks which help with the treatment of tumours on the face with radiotherapy and a gold seed implant which is used to target treatment for prostate cancer. The talk was informative and interesting and Louise answered several questions for the members. They entertained the club with both traditional and modern songs in Welsh and English.
